Kriss Chaumont - Product Design Leader

Portrait of Kriss Chaumont

About Me

I'm Kriss Chaumont, a product design leader with over 20 years of experience designing consumer experiences at scale, bridging design, product, and engineering to get them shipped. I love the messy, high-stakes work: tight deadlines, big audiences, problems that haven't been solved before.

Most recently I was a Senior Staff UX Designer at PayPal, owning in-store payment design through a major launch and helping my team adopt AI-assisted workflows. Before that, I spent two decades at NBC News, where I led and mentored the design teams behind election coverage, live news, and the company's first generative AI features. Our 2024 Presidential Election coverage ranked #1 in traffic and user satisfaction, beating every competitor.

Currently exploring senior product design and design leadership roles (remote, based in the Seattle area).

I work best at the intersection of strategy and craft: prototyping, vibe-coding, and pushing work forward. Here's what I bring:

  • Design Team Leadership

Led and mentored three design teams shipping high-visibility work.

  • Designing with AI

Shipped first-of-their-kind AI features; use AI daily to design and build.

  • Bridging Teams & Stakeholders

Aligned design, editorial, product, and engineering around shared goals.

  • Rapid Interactive Prototyping

Vibe-coded web and native OS prototypes and built internal AI tools.

  • Multiplatform Design Systems

Built systems that kept design consistent across web, mobile, and TV.

  • Data-Informed, Accessible UX

Used research, testing, and inclusive design to improve usability for all.
